Discovering the artistCesare Baglione

Cesare Baglione was an artist who studied in Bologna and realized a lot of painting works in the Parma area, his frescos are characterized by grotesques with garlands, flowers and fruits, fantasy landscapes and tromp l’oeil.

We propose you an historical-artistic itinerary to discover one of the most important artist of the local maniersm, he has been active in the parmesans courts, we’ll discover two gems not far on the hills of Parma: the Sala Bagnaza Rock and the Torrechiara Castle.

Meeting at Sala Baganza and visit at the antique palace that has been very important for the defensive system of the Parmesans’ Castles even if it was originally designed as noble residence.

The focus of the visit is the “Camerino” by Baglione painted with allegories of seasons with hunting scenes and battle’s scenes in fantastic landscape.

In the old basements seats the Museum of Wine of Colli di Parma.

Meeting with the guide in Torrechiara and guided tour at the fortified medieval village and at the wonderful frescoed rooms of the castle where the “Jugglers’ Room” and the “Victory’s Room” stand out for their beauty.
